ornchurch, seeing as Pep won the league at a canter while Tuchel only won the CL because Pep changed his normal team formation then I don't see why they would.

Is this going to change the fashion of coaching?
Seeing as a lot of clubs/coaches followed Peps 4-3-3 I wonder how many will now imitate Tuchel’s success and play the deep 5-3-2, condense all space and then look to hit on the counter?

I fancied City at 5pm but when i saw tha Fernandhino was on the bench my mind changed. He has been massive for them and much of what he does allows KDB to play his way. Pep fucked up massively and gave Chelsea an edge.

Dont agree with all the anti football talk either, Chelsea had so much going forward in the first half,if Werner was any good they would have been 2-0 up inside 25 mins. And Mendy had next to nothing to do all night, i get the anti Chelsea thing but dont let that disguise the teuth.

Has,

If we were to adopt the same tactics as Chelsea's players we'd end up with 9/10 men left on the field, numerous bookings and a never ending stream of fouls given against us,
We don't get away with those sort of tactics against those teams, in the same way they get away with them against us.

City’s defensive string just didn’t work last night. It was all over the place. Pep needs to have a long look in the mirror at who he picked and the way he told them to play.

Re: Champions League Final πŸ†
Due to the nonsense of FFP both teams have two teams of internationals and seems in Pep's case too many alternatives.
He made a major fuck up here though.
Your attacking players need someone like Rodri or Fernandinho to structure the team and keep them ticking over.
As said didnt see it but the reports seem to indicate others were unsure of their roles without them.

Worryingly for England both Rashford and Sterling have been poor for weeks.
Even more worrying Southgate is likely to start both

Re: Champions League Final πŸ†
Sven - Hoddle said that was two of the best benches in football last night. City’s you could argue yeah, not sure about Chelsea’s as they are probably there for a reason. That was ultimately Guardiola’s fuck up.

Re: Champions League Final πŸ†
Was reading that Guardiola had NEVER fielded this 11 before.
I dont care how much of a genius you are not picking at least one of Rodri or Fernandinho against anyone let alone a Champions league final standard team is just madness.
Particularly in Champions League he seems to try to be too clever by half and goes FUNKY.
When Spurs knocked them out 3 seasons ago in the quarter final he picked an odd team in the away leg and they couldnt make up the deficit at home.
Last season v Lyon (a far inferior team) he picked a very timid defensive team and they didnt fire a shot.

City would have given Chelsea a game had they not left out some of their best players. I'm not one of the 'Pep is, and has always been shit' posters on here, but he does have these brain farts every so now and then, especially in the big matches, where he seems to forget what got him there in the first place. It's almost as if he wants the plaudits, rather than the team itself.

Also, his team last night didn't like it up 'em, did they?! Witness De Bruyne coming off crying his eyes out because he'd been given a shiner.

*Note to Moyes and Southgate. Rough up KDB and eliminate him from the game *

Guardiola is a good manager but will he join the all time greats? Mourinho, Ferguson and Clough won European trophies with unfancied teams so, for me, Guardiola isn't up there yet!

Could Guardiola do what Dyche has done at Burnley, gates of 20k and fuck all to spend but would Dyche be successful at City??

Both of them could do with a quality striker who can finish. Chelsea could have been out of site if they had someone decent up top.

I wasn't talking about Chelsea, it was the team that decided a striker wasn't needed that I was on about

Nagel 1:04 Sun May 30
Re: Champions League Final πŸ†
What I find funny about these comments is that we play pretty much the same sort of low possession counter attacking football ourselves, and I bet most of them ain't complaining about our football this season. Main difference is that our defence isn't as good as theirs and their striker constantly fails to take his chances.

Re: Champions League Final πŸ†
I have no time for Chelsea as a club but all these anti football comments are nonsense.

In the first half Chelsea had just as much attacking intent as Man City and probably had the better chances.

They got the goal and in the second half did exactly what any team with any sense would do and that’s stop Man City from playing.

Tactically they did it perfectly. I have never seen a Man City team under Pep create such few chances.

Nagel 12:42 Sun May 30
Re: Champions League Final πŸ†
So Chelsea's 3 CL final appearances have all been with managers joining midway through the season (Avram Grant and di Matteo being the other 2). Expect Tuchel to get sacked off by January.

Chelsea have won two CL’s now by being spoilers but then I think clever tippy tappy that doesn’t let you have possession is boring too.

End to end going for it fuck up football is what the classics are NOT perfected formations full of often over hyped β€˜stars’
